JEE 2027 — Everything You Need to Know Before You Start
Most students lose marks not because they studied less, but because they understood the exam late. Here is the full picture, in plain language.
What is JEE Main?
JEE Main is the first gate. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year — Session 1 in January and Session 2 in April — and your best score across the two counts.
Clearing it opens two doors: admission to the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, and eligibility for JEE Advanced, which is the only route into the IITs.

One detail that can cost students marks
All 5 numerical questions in Section B are now compulsory. The old “attempt any 5 of 10” choice is gone. There is no longer a weak-topic escape route — which is exactly why full syllabus coverage matters more than it did five years ago.

Understanding JEE Advanced Before You Begin
JEE Advanced is the second stage of the JEE journey and the gateway to admission into the 23 IITs. Understanding its eligibility rules, examination style, and differences from JEE Main is essential before planning your preparation strategy.
What is JEE Advanced?
JEE Advanced is the second gate, and the only entry to the 23 IITs. It is conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs on rotation — IIT Delhi is the organising institute for 2027, with the exam expected in May 2027.
JEE Main rewards speed and accuracy. JEE Advanced rewards depth. Questions routinely combine two or three concepts from different chapters, and the paper pattern itself changes year to year — there is no format to memorise, only physics, chemistry and mathematics to actually understand.
