Nursing Courses Available in Assam

Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM)

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

Eligibility for Nursing Admission in Assam 

The eligibility requirements for nursing admission in Assam depend on the course you choose. However, all applicants must satisfy the educational, age, and medical-fitness conditions mentioned in the official admission notification. 

B.Sc Nursing Eligibility 

To apply for B.Sc Nursing, a candidate should: 

  • Pass Class 12 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
  • Obtain at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology combined.
  • Secure at least 40% in PCB if eligible for the relaxation available to SC or ST candidates.
  • Pass English as an individual subject.
  • Be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year.
  • Be medically fit for nursing education and clinical training

  • Be medically fit. 

ANM Eligibility 

For admission to the Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife programme, a candidate should generally: 

  • Pass Class 12 from a recognised board. 
  • Study Arts, Science or an approved vocational healthcare stream. 
  • Meet the minimum marks prescribed in the admission notification. 
  • Be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year
  • Be medically fit. 

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Eligibility 

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing is meant for candidates who have already completed GNM. An applicant should: 

  • Pass Class 12 or hold an equivalent qualification recognised by the university. 
  • Complete a recognised GNM programme. 
  • Be registered as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with a State Nursing Registration Council. 
  • Meet any experience requirement stated by the university or college 
  • Be medically fit. 

M.Sc Nursing Eligibility 

To apply for M.Sc Nursing, a candidate should generally: 

  • Hold a B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Hons Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing degree from a recognised institution.
  • Obtain at least 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
  • Be registered as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or hold an equivalent registration with a State Nursing Registration Council.
  • Have at least one year of relevant work experience, as applicable under the admission rules.
  • Be medically fit.

How to Apply for Nursing Admission in Assam

  • Step 1: Check the Official Notification

Visit the SSUHS entrance page and check the eligibility, application dates, fees, and entrance exam details for your course. 

  • Step 2: Register Online 

Open the SSUHS application portal, choose the relevant nursing entrance examination, and register using your mobile number and email address. 

  • Step 3: Complete the Application 

Enter your personal, academic, address, and category details. Make sure the information matches your official documents. 

  • Step 4: Upload Documents and Pay the Fee 

Upload the required photograph, signature, and certificates. Then, pay the prescribed application fee online and save the payment receipt.
