Assam CEE Counselling 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To participate in Assam CEE Counselling 2026, candidates must satisfy the eligibility conditions mentioned for admission into B.Tech programmes in Assam’s government engineering colleges. Therefore, students should check their academic qualification, residence status, category documents, and age criteria before filling out the counselling form.

  • Valid Assam CEE 2026 rank: First of all, the candidate should have appeared in Assam CEE 2026 and must have a valid rank card. The seat allotment process is generally based on the candidate’s CEE rank, category, college preference, branch preference, and availability of seats.
  • Indian citizenship: The applicant must be an Indian citizen. Without this basic condition, the candidate will not be eligible for admission through Assam CEE counselling.
  • Permanent resident of Assam: In general, the candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam and should have a valid Permanent Residence Certificate, commonly known as PRC. However, separate rules may apply for candidates claiming seats under specific quotas, such as the Central Government Employee quota.
  • Educational qualification: The candidate must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination. Moreover, the qualifying examination should be passed in a single sitting, without grace marks in the mandatory subjects. Students must also pass both theory and practical components individually, wherever applicable.
  • Required subjects in Class 12: For most engineering branches, students are required to have studied relevant subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. However, for some branches, Physics and Mathematics with one relevant subject may be considered as per the official branch-wise eligibility rules.
  • Minimum marks required: Candidates must secure at least 45% marks in the required subjects taken together. However, reserved category candidates need at least 40% marks, as per the eligibility criteria mentioned in the official brochure.
  • Age limit: The candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31 December 2026. However, there is no upper age limit mentioned for Assam CEE 2026 admission.

Assam CEE Choice Filling 2026

Assam CEE Choice Filling 2026 is an important step in the counselling process. In this stage, candidates have to select their preferred engineering colleges and branches through the official DTE Assam counselling portal. Therefore, students should not fill in choices randomly.

While filling out choices, candidates should place their most preferred college and branch at the top. After that, they can add other suitable options based on their rank, category, previous-year cut-off trends, and seat availability.

Moreover, students should add enough choices to improve their chances of getting a seat. If the preference order is wrong, they may miss a better branch or college during seat allotment. So, before final submission, candidates must check the complete choice list carefully.

How to Fill in Choices Correctly?

  • Keep your first preference at the top:
Start with the college and branch you want the most. For example, if your priority is Computer Science at Assam Engineering College, keep it above other options.
  • Arrange choices in order of priority:
After your top choice, add other colleges and branches one by one according to your real preference. Do not place a less-preferred option above a better one.
  • Check previous-year cut-off trends:
Before locking in choices, look at the previous-year closing ranks of colleges and branches. You should also check the latest Assam CEE Cut Off 2026 to understand the expected opening and closing ranks for different engineering colleges and branches before locking your preferences. This will help you understand which options are realistic according to your Assam CEE rank.
  • Add enough choices:
Do not fill in only one or two options. Instead, add multiple suitable choices so that your chances of getting a seat increase during allotment.
  • Balance college and branch preference:
Some students prefer a better college, while others prefer a particular branch. Therefore, decide what matters more to you and arrange the list accordingly.
  • Review before final submission:
Finally, check the complete choice list carefully before submitting it. Once the choices are locked, changes may not be allowed unless DTE Assam provides a correction or modification window.

Important Choice Filling Tips

Candidates should fill their choices very carefully because seat allotment depends on the order of preferences submitted during counselling. Therefore, students should keep their most desired college and branch at the top, followed by other suitable options.

Moreover, candidates should not depend only on high-demand branches like CSE or ECE. Instead, they should also include other branches and colleges where they have a realistic chance, according to their rank.

Students should also remember that upgradation, if allowed, usually happens according to higher preferences. So, before final submission, they must check whether the choice order truly matches their admission priority.

Assam CEE Counselling Fee 2026

As per the previous-year trends, candidates have to pay a non-refundable counselling fee of ₹800 during online form submission.
